Grilled Stuffed Onions In Their Skins (foil Wrapped)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 yellow onions (about 2 1/2 inches in diameter, choose onions with skins firmly in place)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons thyme
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sage
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed tarragon leaves
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 margarine, melted
  • 1/2 cup fresh breadcrumb

Recipe

  • 1 slice off stem and roots ends of the onions, leaving skins in place.
  • 2 prepare a square baking pan by lining it with foil.
  • 3 cut a cone shaped hole in the top of the onions without cutting through the bottom of the onion.
  • 4 set onions in the pan on their roots.
  • 5 stir spices and sugar into the melted butter.
  • 6 add the bread crumbs.
  • 7 stir until well mixed.
  • 8 spoon the bread mixture into each onion.
  • 9 wrap in foil and grill with your steak on the grill, turning often.
  • 10 you can also bake in a 400 degree preheated oven for about an hour or until onion is fork tender.
  • 11 serve immediately.
