Boston Baked Beans

Total Time: 5 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 5 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 lb small beans
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 lb salt lamb
  • 1 small onion, cut in quarters
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • hot water

Recipe

  • 1 soak the beans overnight in water.
  • 2 the next morning par boil for 10 minutes then add the baking soda, don't worry it will foam up, that’s okay.
  • 3 drain the beans well and rinse.
  • 4 cut the salt lamb into cubes and put in the bottom of a bean crock along with the onion and the beans.

  • 8 cover the pot tightly and bake in 300 °f oven for approximately 6 hours or until the beans are cooked through.
