Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 large idaho baking potatoes (approximately 2 lbs total)
  • 1 head garlic
  • 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • salt
  • pepper

Recipe

  • 1 peel potatoes and cut into 1/2 inch thick slices.
  • 2 peel garlic into individual cloves.
  • 3 simmer potato slices and garlic cloves in a sauce pan with enough water to barely cover.
  • 4 once the potatoes are tender, drain the water from the pan, reserving 1/2 cup of water.
  • 5 mash the potatoes with the evaporated milk and butter.
  • 6 depending upon the size of the potatoes you may need more liquid.
  • 7 you can use some of the reserved potato water, or more butter, or regular milk.
  • 8 i usually use regular milk.
  • 9 season to taste with salt and butter.
