Garlic Potatoes Gratin

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 6 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream or 1 1/2 cups half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
  • 1 1/2 cups swiss cheese, shredded

Recipe

  • 1 butter a shallow 2 1/2 quart baking dish.
  • 2 arrange potato slices in pan so that they overlap slightly and are level.
  • 3 sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • 4 in a small bowl, combine cream with butter and garlic; pour over potatoes.
  • 5 bake, uncovered, in a 450°f oven until potatoes are brown and tender when pierced with a fork, about 45 minutes.
  • 6 sprinkle cheese over potatoes and bake until cheese melts, 8 to 10 minutes longer.
