- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 cup red onion, separated into rings
- 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Recipe
- 1 in 3 qt saucepan place beans and bacon; add enough water to cover, bring to a full boil, cover, cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until beans are crispy tender, drain.
- 2 return beans to pan; add remaining ingredients, cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until onion is crispy tender.
- 3 serve hot.
