Karen's Fried Green Tomatoes

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3 green tomatoes
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup butter

Recipe

  • 1 slice tomatoes into 1/3 inch slices.
  • 2 evenly sprinkle both sides of each tomato with the sugar, salt, and pepper.
  • 3 melt one stick of butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  • 4 beat together the milk and eggs.
  • 5 dip each tomato in flour then dip in the eggs. dredge in the flour until thoroughly covered.
  • 6 place tomatoes in the pan and cook over the medium heat until golden brown on one side (approximately 5-7 minutes). flip and cook the other side until golden brown. as you fry the the tomatoes, add more butter as needed.
