Easy Baked Beans

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 lb bacon, cut into thin strips
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 (28 ounce) cans baked beans (i.e. bush's)
  • 1 (12 ounce) bottle chili sauce (i.e. heinz)
  • 1/3 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 3 tablespoons dried basil or 3 tablespoons dried oregano (or combo of both)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1/4-1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Recipe

  • 1 in large skillet, saute bacon over medium-high heat until brown and crispy.
  • 2 add onions and continue cooking until onions are translucent, about 4-5 minutes.
  • 3 add garlic and cook 2-3 minutes more.
  • 4 scrape bacon/onion mixture into a dutch oven or oven-proof casserole and add remaining ingredients.
  • 5 stir to blend.
  • 6 bake at 350 uncovered, 45 minutes or until thick.
