Fried Onion Straws With Creole Mustard Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 4 -5 large sweet onions
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon old bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon creole seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
  • 2 teaspoons dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 3 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • salt

Recipe

  • 1 with a mandoline slicer for fast and even slices (be sure to use the guard and be very careful not to cut fingers) cut onions 1/8 inch for straws and thicker for onion rings if desired.
