Fried Apple Rings

Ingredients
- 4 -6 tart cooking apples, peeled and cored
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 dash salt
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon crisco shortening, melted
- crisco shortening or oil, for frying
- cinnamon (for sprinkling)
- sugar (for sprinkling)
Recipe
- 1 slice apples cross-wise into 1/2-inch thick rings.
- 2 combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl.
- 3 in separate bowl, combine eggs, milk, and melted crisco.
- 4 add egg mixture to dry mixture and beat until smooth.
- 5 in large, heavy skillet, preheat about 1/2 inch deep shortening or oil to about 365 degrees.
- 6 dip apple slices, one at a time, into batter to coat well.
- 7 fry in hot oil about 2 1/2-3 min.
- 8 or until brown and edges are crispy, turning once.
- 9 drain on paper towel.
- 10 sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and serve warm.
