Fried Apple Rings

Total Time: 21 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 6 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 -6 tart cooking apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 dash salt
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon crisco shortening, melted
  • crisco shortening or oil, for frying
  • cinnamon (for sprinkling)
  • sugar (for sprinkling)

Recipe

  • 1 slice apples cross-wise into 1/2-inch thick rings.
  • 2 combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl.
  • 3 in separate bowl, combine eggs, milk, and melted crisco.
  • 4 add egg mixture to dry mixture and beat until smooth.
  • 5 in large, heavy skillet, preheat about 1/2 inch deep shortening or oil to about 365 degrees.
  • 6 dip apple slices, one at a time, into batter to coat well.
  • 7 fry in hot oil about 2 1/2-3 min.
  • 8 or until brown and edges are crispy, turning once.
  • 9 drain on paper towel.
  • 10 sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and serve warm.
