Geelrys (yellow Rice)

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Recipe

  • 1 place rice, water, brown sugar, salt, turmeric and cinnamon stick in a pot.
  • 2 boil over high heat 20 minutes.
  • 3 drain excess water.
  • 4 add remaining ingredients and steam rice until soft and fluffy.
  • 5 remove cinnamon stick before serving.
